Agile, Lean, Sprints and Radical Transparency:
Launching a Nonprofit with Tools from the World of Tech Start-upsTechnology companies have changed the way all businesses work. Email, social media, and cloud based computing (to name a few), dominate our workplaces. But, the tech sector’s practice, not just their products, are influencing the way that companies manage their employees, their work flow and their strategies.
At our June 1 meeting, we’ll be joined by one of Iowa’s notable technology leaders and successful nonprofit founders, Eric Engelmann. Eric founded Geonetric in 1999. Today, Eric is a co-founder and the Executive Director of NewBoCo in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. NewBoCo’s mission is accelerate world changing ideas, from Iowa.
Eric transferred the strategies and techniques of the tech sector into the DNA of NewBoCo. NewBoCo, founded in 2014, is one of the region’s fastest growing nonprofits doubling and tripling their gross revenue, program offerings, and clients in just a few years. Hyper-growth has been accomplished by employing tools borrowed from the technology and start-up worlds. These methods reward experimentation, fast-failure, clear communication, employee engagement and transparency.
Come to the session to hear Eric’s start-up story, and to discover how these innovative tactics could transform the way you think of management and planning.
Eric Engelmann founded Geonetric in 1999, and presently works as the Executive Director of NewBoCo in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He’s a board member at Scrum Alliance, the Technology Association of Iowa, and GO Cedar Rapids.
